Tremors in Nepal: Romel Stephan from Bantwal, is safe

Bantwal, April 27: When earthquake shattered Kathmandu in Nepal, Romel Stephan Moras from Siddakatte in the taluk, who was there is healthy and safe.

Romel’s father, Ronad Moras, informed that he was able to converse to his son over phone. Family of Romel, which was worried about his safety, as all contacts with him were lost when he was in Kathmandu. Ronald Moras expressed his gratitude to god for protecting his son.

Ronald said the family was relieved of tension after he received information on the afternoon of Sunday April 26th, that his son was safe.

Romel Stephan Moras who pursued MBA, is employed in Clutch Group of Companies, Bengaluru. On April 22nd, he had left to Kathmandu from New Delhi.

Soon after the news of the earthquake appeared in the media, the youngster’s family members were overwhelmed with worry, as efforts to contact Romen failed. Sangabettu gram panchayat member, Prabhakar Prabhu, contacted Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, MLC, Ivan D’Souza, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada District, and district superintendent of police, urging to gather information about the missing youth. Directed by the minister, superintendent of police, Dr Sharanappa, who contacted the officials at Kathmandu, received information on Sunday morning that he was safe at Height Resort located at the base of the Himalayas.

The family members were anxious even after receiving this information, as they were unable to contact Romel over cell phone.

On Sunday afternoon, they were relieved after speaking to Romel Stephan Moras through the landline of the said resort. Romel told them that people of various countries have been accommodated in that resort, and that arrangement are being made to send them back to their countries safely.

Ronald said he was tensed since Saturday afternoon, as he failed to establish contact with his son, nor was he able to get any information about his safety. However, ‘I was confident about the district administration and the government. Now we are waiting for Romel to return home safely, he said.
