Moral policing in Dakshina Kannada will be dealt strictly- DG,IGP Om Prakash

Udupi, April 9: Moral policing in Dakshina Kannada will not be tolerated and strict actions will be taken on those who indulge in it said DG and IGP Om Prakash on Wednesday April 8th.

Addressing the media at the Coast Guards administrative office at Malpe here Om Prakash said that we are aware of the instances of moral policing which is increasing in DK. The activists of moral police will be dealt with strictly. Strict action will be initiated against the culprits, he said.

To overcome the lack of police personnel’s in the Police Department, recruitments are taking place as per the need. We are filling up the vacant posts at the earliest. Recently, we have recruited over 8,000 police personnel, he informed.

Pertained to the security of women, various laws and acts have been initiated. The police department is also training and sensitizing the police force to deal with cases regarding women, he said.

He also added that police will take stern action regarding the misuse of social media.

Currently, the Naxal activity in the state is under control and effective actions have been taken by the police and the ANF to contain such activities, informed the IGP.

Cash prize for fishermen:

On this occasion, DG and IGP Om Prakash felicitated seven fishermen from Karnataka with Cash rupees ten thousand and citation. They had rescued an Indian Naval officer Commander Nikhil Joshi who was in the Indian Naval Aviation which had recently crashed into the Arabian Sea near Goa.

IGP (western range) Amrit Paul, IGP of CID Pratap Reddy, ADG Amritkumar Pandey, IGP (ANF) A S N Murthy, coastal SP Chenna Basavanna S L, was present on this occasion.
