Memorandum demanding separate Christian Welfare Corporation submitted to CM

Mangalore, June 09: International Christian organizations’ union (ICOU), a unit of DK has submitted a memorandum to chief minister urging him to release Rs 200 crore in the coming budget, which will be presented in July and to form a separate corporation for the welfare of the community.

In a memorandum submitted by KPCC Secretary Ivan D’souza and representatives of ICOU Michael Lobo, convener, Praveen James Kumar, Cyril D’souza,Errol Pinto and Marshal Monteiro, community has demanded  the formation of separate corporation with president and vice-president for the welfare of 7 % of minority Christian population  and providing its people with basic amenities.

Chief Minister Siddaramaih after receiving the memorandum said that appropriate law would be framed for the development of the Christian community and to see that funds allocated are constructively utilized in the right manner. Also assured that a separate corporation would be formed in line with their demand.

A copy of the memorandum was also forwarded to Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Ramanath Rai, Vinaya Kumar sorake, Udipi district in charge, K J George, home minister U T Khader, health and family welfare minister and Abhaychandra Jain, minister for youth welfare and fisheries
