Mangalore, June 09: In an accident which occurred in the wee hours on June 9,Sunday,near Bal Bhavan on Kadri park, claimed the life of young athlete Ithihas Shetty,aged 20 and a second year engineering student of St Joseph’s Engineering college,Vamanjoor,Mangalore.
Shetty, besides being a school people leader at St Aloysius primary school and also a focused, talented state level sprinter and TT player and represented school and colleges, sources said.
Reliable sources said that Ithihas along with three other TT players was returning from a match practice in a car, which he was driving lost the control of the vehicle and rammed on the compound wall pillar from the driver’s side and impact of the accident was such that front door of the car was completely mangled, which might have proved fatal for Ithihas.
Sources also said that Ithihas breathed his last on the way to the hospital and other two boys escaped with minor injuries.
Dinesh Kundar, coach of Ithihas expressed his shock at the death of this young promising athlete and TT player.
