Mangaluru, March 30: Mulky police have detained 8 persons related to the abduction and assault case of an eighth standard student.
The arrested are namely Mussafa (26) from Kilpady, Jamaluddin (20) and Mohammed Ali (28) from Thokur Haleyangady, Shakir (24) from Bappanadu, Taushif (28), Sharif (43) and Abdul Aziz (23) from K S Rao Nagara, and Safwan (19) from Darga Road Mulky.
Parents of an eighth standard student of a school in Karnad near Mulky, filed a complaint with the Mulky police on Saturday March 28th, which stated that their son was abducted from his hostel and assaulted near Dargah Road here.
The boy was abducted from his hostel on Saturday afternoon by a gang of about 20 youth who later thrashed him. Reason behind the assault was that the eighth standard boy became friendly with one of the girl of his class and frequently conversed with her. It is said that, the boy had asked the girl the reason for which she was crying in the class, on the day of assault.
The above said boy, Manjunath stays in the hostel meant for backward classes which is near Karnad telephone exchange from where he goes to school at Karnad.
Cops are on a look out for some more persons who were involved in the assault and have remained elusive.
