Mangaluru, March 27: The 24th conference of Karnataka History Congress was organized under the aegis of the Mangalore University’s history department at Mangalore University, Konaje outskirts of Mangaluru on Thursday March 26th.
Conference was inaugurated by Prof Upindar Singh, the head of history department of Delhi University. Prof Upindar Singh is the daughter of Dr Manmohan Singh, Former Prime Minister of India.
Addressing the gathered, she said emphasised on the fact that Indian history is great and incomparable. She called upon the youth to develop deep interest in religious, political, philosophical, scientific, medical or other areas related to the history of our country including common culture that occupy a place of importance in the world history. While conducting research on ancient history of India, it is important to use modern scientific tools and methods, she said.
She also said that it is necessary to make a comprehensive study and research on stone edicts which are found in various parts of our country.
The inaugural event was presided over by retired professor of Karnataka State Open University, Prof G Ramanathan.
Dignitaries Prof B N Naidu from history department, Bengaluru University, president of Karnataka History Congress, Prof Rajanna and vice-chancellor of Mangalore University, Prof Bhyrappa, were present.
The gathering was welcomed by Prof Lokesh, Head of history department, Mangalore University.
