Mangaluru, March 20: Pot protest was staged opposing the Yettinahole Project on Friday, March 20th in the city.
The protestors have condemned the government’s move to implement the Yettinahole project without taking the opinion of the people, without making a study and without getting the reports.
In pot protest staged by Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya, Dinesh Holla addressed the protestors and said, Nethravathi river diversion project, and Yettinahole project both of these are highly dangerous. Without possessing the knowledge that the western range is highly sensitive, the government has moved forward to implement the project, which is condemnable, he said.
Students from Roshni Nilaya school of social work exhibited a street play during the protest.
It has been informed that on March 22nd, as part of the “World Water Day” a protest would be staged by holding pots in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
They have warned of severe protest and holding District bundh, if the Yettinahole project is not stopped.
