Mangaluru, February 27: MLC Ivan D’Souza strongly condemned the union government’s land ordinance bill and said the ordinance is in the interests of corporate’s and is against the interests of the farmers.
Addressing a press meet in the city on Friday February 27th, Ivan said, the union government which has passed the land ordinance bill has failed to protect the interest of farmers. Congress will strongly oppose this bill. The union government should withdraw this bill and implement the bill introduced during 2013, he said.
Discussing about state of police quarters in the city he said, the matter has been brought to the notice of the CM and the home minster. A proposal has also been placed demanding to construct new buildings.
Ivan said as the upcoming budget session is beginning from March 13th, he has put forward various proposals before the state government for fund allocation of Rs 22 crore to convert Pumpwell to Padil stretch into four-lane road, Rs 40 crore to upgrade Kankanady market, Rs 19 crore for construction of Sultan Bathery to Bengre suspension bridge, Rs 100 crore for development of newly-included wards in the Mangaluru corporation and Rs 13 crore to construct new building of Women’s Polytechnic after demolishing the old one.
