Mangaluru, February 24: In a bike accident which took place at Tannirbavi here on the evening of Monday February 23rd, pillion rider has expired reportedly due to negligence while riding and the rider suffered injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Vaibhav Sainath Shetty (20), a resident of Chilimbi. His friend Prateek, a resident of Hemmady, Kundapur, was injured.
Prateek was riding the motorbike while Vaibhav was pillion rider. Police sources said that they were riding from beach road towards the main road. As they reached the junction, both of them raised their hands up, allegedly attempting a bike stunt.
Both of them were thrown on the road, after losing control over the bike. As Vaibhav’s head was hit against the road, he was critically injured, who succumbed to his injuries. Prateek was injuries and was rushed to hospital. Youths did not wear their helmets, said the police sources.
Prateek is a first year BBM student of SDM College while Vaibhav was a student of second year civil engineering at Sahyadri College.
Suratkal traffic police have visited the spot and field a case.
