Bantwal, February 10: A man has been accused of attempting to rape a college going girl at Manila Muruva near Vittal on Monday, February 9th.
The man has been identified as Raghu (24) from Peruvody Patla in Bayar.
A 22-year-old college student, after getting down from the bus in the bus satnd began walking towards her home, when Raghu suddenly approached her from behind in an isolated area. He spoke to her in the pretext of borrowing her cell phone. Later he outraged her modesty by pulling away her bag, holding her mouth tight, and trying to rape her.
After learning that a local was coming on that way in a jeep, Raghu had reportedly fled from the spot.
When the news spread immediately, the locals launched a search operation and traced him in a house. He was later handed over to cops.
It is said that Raghu is married and was on a visit to a relative’s house.
Vittal cosp have registered a case.
