Rs 15.72 lakhs released towards bore wells management in the district.

Mangaluru, January 20: The DK District Water and Sanitation Committee meeting was held on Monday January 19th, and was presided over by ZP President Asha Thimmappa Gowda.

ZP Vice President Satish Kumpala placed the need for an effective solid waste management system in Konaje. He also suggested that the system be initially implemented in two taluks and later implemented in other taluks.

ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni discussed on certain measures regarding effective waste management.

To the schools facing scarcity of water, suggestions were placed to arrange alternative water supply. The toilets construction works for 356 families in five taluks are pending according to the baseline survey of 2012. Directions were passed to the concerned officials were directed to ensure the construction of sanctioned toilets the earliest.

For the management  of 4815 hand-pump bore wells during the year 2014-2015, Rs 15.72 lakhs have been granted and for the emergency water facility, Rs 3 crores have been granted.

The meeting concluded with a decision to discuss the matter with Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and plan on implementing the projects in five Gram Panchayats of Dharmasthala and 8 gram panchayats in Konaje similar to the solid waste management model implemented in Chikkamagalur TMC on behalf of the Dharmasthala Rural Development Project.
