Moodabidri : 75th All India Inter University athletics championship is going on in Swaraj ground Moodbidri. By the end of day 3rd Manglore University is in lead with 42 points. Today Rashmi K from Alvas college got silver medal in javelin throw. By throwing the javelin to 46.05 meter she has obtained second place in the meet.
Rashimi is basically from Puttur. In her childhood days itself she had interest in sports. Her father Balakrishna Shetty and mother Umavathi are from agricultural background. But rashmi was inerested in sports. In her primary school itself she got support from her parents, teachers.Rashmi says `in 9th standard I got a medal in javelin in nationals. So i become interested in javelin. It is my best performance ever. I am really thanhkful to alvas.’
Right now rashmi is doing B.P.Ed in Alvas college . She has kept 5 hours every day for the work out. Her next target is throw the javelin to 55 meter. Rashmi is suffering from fitness problem so this time she is not able to give good performance.
She alreary got the national and university record in her name, in amateur level, all India inter university level, federation level she won many medals. Her dream is to place her name in international level.
