Ulaibettu Tensions: Cops arrest prime accused.

Mangaluru, January 16: Pertaining to the tensions that prevailed at Ulaibettu recently, the city crime branch (CCB) sleuths have arrested the main accused Khalid alias Koya (24), a resident of Sainaz Manzil near Saleh Jumma Masjid in Ulaibettu, on Wednesday, January 15th.

Police sources said, Khalid had planned in provoking communal disturbance near a Nagabana near Ulaibettu Bridge followed by creating disturbance by looting the houses in Ulaibettu and thereby provoking tension at various places. He had then remained elusive, the police claimed.

It is learnt that the CCB cops have taken him into custody from a bus stand near the arch of Magrantaya Daivasthana at Tuppekallu near Arkula here and handed him over to the rural police station.

Charged under various cases:

Khalid also faces a case of attacking Khadri Beary from Ulaibettu in 2006 and threatening to kill him. In 2007 he had assaulted some sand traders and posed life threat to them. In 2009 he was involved in a case of attempt to murder Abubakker from Ulaibettu. In 2013, he had attempted to murder Nasir. He had also assaulted and threatened Harish Poojary and Vishwanath Poojary from Ulaibettu and has been booked under these cases, it is said.

Directed by city police commissioner S Murugan, and guided by deputy commissioners of police, Santosh Babu-Law and order branch and N Vishnuvardhan, crime and traffic branch; the arrest was made by CCB inspector, Valentine D’Souza, sub-inspector, Shyam Sundar, and other personnel’s.
