1.64 lakh bank accounts opened under Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Scheme- Seturaman

Mangaluru, December 23 : During the trimester meet of the Lead Bank held on Tuesday, December 23rd, Seturaman Deputy General Manager of Lead Bank revealed that a total of 581 branches in Dakshina Kannada have marked business of Rs 47,326.04 crore by September end -2014.

Seturaman revealing the details said, as of September, 2014; deposits rose up by 17.40 per cent summing to Rs 30,324.84 crore.

With a view of providing a total loan of Rs 7,782 crore during the economic year 2014­15, banks have already distributed loan amount of Rs 4,134.86 crore. Lending to the agricultural sector stood at Rs. 1,212 crore, macro, micro and small­scale industries at Rs. 482.80 crore, education and housing at Rs 834.38 crore.

 Seturaman said, as per the 2014 census, 1.64 lakh bank accounts have been opened after August 16th-2015, under the Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Scheme.

Tulasi Maddineni, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer, Laxmipathi- Assistant Chief Executive of RBI, Prasad-NABARD Assistant General Manager, Amarnath Hegde and others were present during the meet.
