Kundapur, November 10: A married woman was handed over to the cops who eloped with a man belonging to other community, on Monday November 10th.
A married woman named Madura Hebbar, basically from Shivamogga and residing at Amasebail, Kundapur had allegedly eloped with Sarfaraz, who reportedly promised her a luxurious life.
Madura Hebbar was allegedly in an illicit relationship with Sarfaraz, who owns mobile shops at Amasebail and at Siddapura. The locals alleged that, Sarfaraz had deceived two girls in the past with false marriage promises.
Madura is the wife of Raghavendra Hebbar, owner of Ratteshwara Travels. Madura wished to continue her studies after marriage and her wish was granted.
It is said that she came to know Sarfaraz during college and was in touch with him through phone. Initially, she refused his company but later got carried away by the luxurious lifestyle he promised, sources said.
The neighbours said that Raghavendra Hebbar had given her all freedom and never doubted her. Even she had recently attended the wedding of Sarfaraz’s sister, said the neighbours. Several local outfits had begun protest alleging that Sarfaraz had lured Madura.
The Bolero belonging to Sarfaraz was found in Bhatkal area. They had both switched off their phones. The Amasebail cops tried to trace them but could not.
Ultimately, Sarfaraz’s family members sought the intrusion of former politician A G Kodgi and were successful in bringing the couple to his house. There, Madura refused to return to her husband’s house. Later, she was handed over to women police and produced before the court.
The woman was asked to record her statement in the court. She apparently said that she neither wished to return to her husband’s house nor stay with Sarfaraz. Later, it was decided to hand her over to her family. It is learnt that the cops have not taken any actions against Sarfaraz, as Raghavendra’s family did not file any complaint against him.
