Mangalore, May 13: It has been reported in the city on May 12, Sunday around 7.40 pm that cousins who were on their way to KSRTC bus stand from Gurupura Kaikamba were stopped by some unknown persons and repeatedly attacked near Kalpane, near Kulshekar.
Sources said that duo believed to be lovers from different communities.
The boy who is doing his engineering in Mangalore was taking his cousin, who is doing her graduation in Bangalore in his bike to KSRTC bus stand when the incident took place.
It is learnt that three unknown youths who were also riding bike have intercepted their bike near Kalpane and had a verbal exchanges and used filthy/vulgar languages and hit the boy. His cousin who intervened in the melee to protect him also was sustained injuries.
Sources said the trio pushed the boy on to the ground and began assaulting him mercilessly as others who gathered remained mute spectators and fled the spot later.
A complaint has been registered by Kadri Police station. Motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
