Corporation Bank Distributes Account Opening Kits at Palpa Village, Haryana under PMJDY

 Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director of Corporation Bank visited Palpa Village in the State of Haryana, today and distributed account opening kits to the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).

Palpa village is one of the 2277 villages allocated to Corporation Bank for providing banking facilities to all the households under PMJDY. The Bank has opened more than 400 accounts in Palpa village through its Badli Branch.

 PMJDY aims to provide bank accounts to all households in the country and offer banking facilities either by way of regular brick and mortar branches or fixed point online Bank Mitras with Mirco ATMs capable of doing all banking transactions. It is also envisaged to issue RuPay Debit Cards with Rupees One Lakh Accidental Insurance to all the account holders. Overdraft of Rupees Five Thousand to one member of family, preferably lady member of the family will also be provided after observing satisfactory transactions in the account for six months. Besides these facilities other need-based credit facilities, micro insurance etc. will also be available to the customers.

 Corporation Bank is allotted with 2277 villages and 924 wards in urban areas for providing the above facilities to all the households. The Bank has established banking facilities either by way of regular branch or through Bank Mitras for all the aforesaid villages and wards. Also, the Bank has surveyed all the villages and the wards by door-to-door visit to identify unbanked families.

 So far, Corporation Bank has opened 11.63 lakh Savings Bank Accounts under PMJDY. Out of 2277 villages allocated to the Bank, opening of Bank accounts of all the households has been completed in 67 villages. The Bank is confident of opening Bank accounts for all the unbanked households in the villages and wards allocated to it by 26th January 2015.
