Actress Ramya, who has been the celebrity campaigner for the Congress party, on Wednesday said she does not have enough time to campaign for her mentor Ambareesh, who is contesting from the Mandya seat.
Speaking to reporters, Ramya said “Ambi uncle” wanted her to campaign for him from 10 am to 6 pm.
“However, the party wants me to campaign for many other candidates and it is not possible for me to dedicate an entire day for Ambi,” she said.
Ramya’s statement assumes significance in the wake of the recent rift between Ambareesh and the party’s senior leader S M Krishna, over distribution of tickets in some constituencies of old Mysore region. Sources in the party said the senior leaders were not happy with the attitude of Ambareesh and hence, were not allowing Ramya to campaign for him.
Ramya for Lok Sabha?
When questioned whether she would be ready to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Ramya said she would be happy to grab the Congress party ticket, if offered.
“I am confident of winning the seat and ready to play any role offered in the party,” she said.
Sources said there is a likelihood of Ramya being offered the Congress ticket from either Bangalore Central or Bangalore Rural seat.
