AC technician falls to death at police HQ

3 boyA young air-conditioner technician fell to his death while he was on the job at the seventh floor of the State police headquarters here on Monday.

Deepak (18) was repairing the AC at the conference hall ahead of a meeting at the Nrupatunga Road building on Tuesday.

A resident of Dr. Ambedkar Nagar at D.J. Halli, he was working with Freeze Point Engineers, a firm that maintains ACs.

According to the police, Deepak and four other technicians had been working at the office for the last five days. Around noon on Monday, when the others went to lunch, Deepak and a colleague went to the seventh floor, where Deepak climbed the parapet to clean the AC duct; he slipped and landed in the parking lot. Police officials rushed him to St. Martha’s hospital, but he was declared brought dead.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda said a case of death owing to negligence was taken up against the contractor.
