23The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) national president H.D. Deve Gowda on Tuesday said that he would abide by the Supreme Court verdict on the ownership of the party’s Racecourse building.

Reacting to the court order that the building belonged to the Congress, Mr. Deve Gowda said that the party would honour the verdict and decide on the future course of action after discussing the issue with legal experts.

Noting that he was associated with the Racecourse building for the past five decades and had served the people in various capacities, Mr. Deve Gowda said that he was emotionally attached to the building but would now bow to the court order.

A. Krishnappa, party State president, said that the party was engaged in preparing for the Lok Sabha elections and had time till December 31 to vacate the premises. The court verdict would not affect the party in any manner. It was just a question of moving out of the premises into another.

Mr. Krishnappa and party’s General Secretary jointly released the first list of office-bearers of its minority wing on Tuesday.
