Four held for dacoity bid

Bangalore, December 19:  The West Division police have arrested five persons on charges of plotting a dacoity and vehicle theft in Upparpet and R.R. Nagar, recently.

Four persons, who were plotting a dacoity near the Freedom Park, were arrested by the Upparpet police. The accused have been identified as Santhosh, Chethan, Ravikumar and Santosh alias Sanna. Gold ornaments, other valuables and a two-wheeler worth Rs. 7 lakh were recovered from them. The accused have dacoity and chain-snatching cases registered against them in Upparpet, Jnanabharathi and Basaveshwarnagar police stations and also a case of vehicle theft in Chandra Layout police station.

In another case, the Rajarajeshwari Nagar police arrested a 22-year-old man for vehicle theft and seized 12 two-wheelers from him estimated at Rs. 6 lakh. The accused has been identified as Ambarish, a resident of Devarabetta village in Dankanikote taluk of Krishnagiri district.

Of the 12 vehicles seized, the police have traced five vehicle owners.
11 held for gambling

The Central Crime Branch sleuths arrested 11 persons on charges of gambling and seized cash worth Rs. 71,500 along with other items from the accused.

Upon receiving information that gambling activities were being carried out in a house in Babu Reddy Layout of Hebbal police limits, the officials raided the premises and nabbed them.

The accused have been identified as Rehman Babu (40), Afzal Pasha (30), Imran (25), Asif (30), Usman (28) Moula Ali (42), Imran Ahmed (30), Nagaraj (41), Ravi (39), Jaffer Ali (30) and Ramesh (40).
