BANGALORE, December 15:  Classic cars and scooters from another era put “joy” in the ‘joy ride in a vintage car rally’ organised from Forum Mall, Koramangala, here on Sunday. Around 30 vintage cars and an equal number of vintage scooters participated in the rally organised by Forum Mall, in association with the Karnataka Vintage Classic Car Club (KVCCC) and Bangalore Classic Scooter Club.

The objective was to bring a smile on the face of children from the Shrinidhi Charitable and Educational Trust by taking them on a ride in the classic beauties.

The rally, which was flagged off by Ashish Kumar Ballal, former member of the Indian hockey team, saw cars from various reputed brands, including Plymouth, Adler, Buick, Ford, Austin, Morris and Mercedes. “It’s a great opportunity for underprivileged children to see and take a ride in these cars,” said Premnath P.S. of the KVCCC, who brought his 1939-model Morris to the rally.

“It is a different experience for us. I’m very excited to go on the ride,” said Ashok G, a Class 10 student from the orphanage.

The rally started from the mall and wound its way towards 100-foot road, Indiranagar, and back. It was a visual treat for onlookers. The oldest car in the rally was an Austin 1927 model.

The proud owners of the vintage beauties too were seen enjoying Sunday sun. “It’s a great feeling to be out here for a cause. I’ve brought my 1939 Chevorlet Master to the rally. The car was owned by the Maharaja of Mysore. I’m sure the children are going to cherish this ride for a long time,” said N.K.S Narendra Kumar.
