BANGALORE, December 13: The seventh edition of the SBI Bengaluru Midnight Marathon 2013 will kick start at 6 p.m. on December 14 with ‘the flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh as its brand ambassador. Organised by the Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC), the theme for this year’s marathon is “Bhaag Bengaluru Bhaag,” and is expected to attract over 10,000 runners across the various races, including athletes, professional runners, runners from the armed forces and corporates.

A release said that 7,000 people have already registered for the event. The key events include the full marathon, Carewel half marathon, target 10k run, Schneider Electric IT city fun run, Airbus corporate relay cup, community relay by Nambiars and the women’s relay cup.

This marathon, participants can expect to run alongside personnel from the defence forces as RBITC has convinced the authorities to give their troops the green signal to participate in the event similar to last year. And the number of woman participants too is on the rise, with over 2,000 women registering this year.

The organisers have arranged for facilities on the route and otherwise, including space for parking at KTPO and in and around the venue, drinking water, rehydration drinks, glucose, toilets, food court and a flee market.

Those who are still keen to register can do so by logging onto www.midnightmarathon.in or directly at the venue on December 14 before 6 p.m. Call 84536 46511 for details.
