Bangalore: Bringing relief to 1.71 lakh students who wrote the II pre-university maths exam this year, the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) has decided to grant up to seven grace marks for four questions that were claimed to be “ambiguous”. The maths exam was held across 899 centres on March 18.

‘CONFUSING QUESTIONS’

Mattur, Joint Director (Exams), DPUE, told The Hindu that students who had attempted the “confusing” questions would be given grace marks.

“When the evaluation of the papers began, eight lecturers decided to introduce the scheme (grace marks) as they found a few questions to be confusing. Only those students who have attempted to answer them will be given grace marks. The decision was taken so that injustice is not caused to only a section of the students,” he added.
