Man handed Life term for killing a friend; Lust to marry friends’s wife prompted him to commit crime

Mangalore, April 6:  It has been reported that Mallappa Basappa Aihole, aged 31, has been awarded a life term imprisonment by the third additional district and session’s court, who had been accused of killing his friend in the 2011.

The reason behind the murder of his friend Mallesh Mallappa Honnali is said to be his willing to marry wife of deceased.

Both are said to be from the same native place and neighbors.  Mallesh Mallappa migrated to Mangalore in search of livelihood and was working as laborer. Taking this an opportunity, Mallappa Basappa Aihole started torturing Neelamma, wife of Mallesh by advancing towards her frequently. Unable to bear the repeated advances of Mallappa Basappa, Neelamma to had decided to join her husband in Mangalore.

Sensing this, even Mallappa also shifted to Mangalore and started working as Coolie.After coming to Mangalore, Mallappa developed a close proximity with Mallesh and was taking Mallesh to bars together.

As the story continues, Mallappa was trying to gain the confidence of Neelamma by project her fabricated stories about Mallesh that Mallesh was a drunkard. He also advised Neelamma to desert Mallesh and marry him. But Neelamma vehemently used to refuse his pestering.

Dejected Mallappa by his failed attempts to lure Neelamma, had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Mallesh forever.

Accordingly on the night of January 9, 2011 Mallappa made Mallesh to drink heavily and took him Kasba, Bengre and stabbed him to death with a sharp knife.

Valentine D’Souza, Police inspector of Panambur booked the case, investigated it and filed the charge sheet. P.N.Desai; judge of the court has announced the punishment on April 4 along with a fine of Rs.5000 on the accused. It also said that accused has to undergo three months of rigorous jail sentence in case, he fails to pay the fine.
