MYSORE, September 9: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said he is leaving for China on Monday to participate in the annual meeting of World Economic Forum to attract investments to the State. This is Mr. Siddaramaiah’s first foreign tour after taking over the reigns of the State administration.
Speaking to presspersons at the Lalitha Mahal helipad, Mr. Siddaramaiah, who was here to participate in the valedictory of “Know Your Army”, an exhibition by Indian Army, said that several countries and States were attending the five-day meet at Dalian in China. Karnataka is one of the States from India to showcase investment opportunities.
The Chief Minister said that meet is an opportunity to woo foreign investors to the State as many countries, top companies and investors are participating. Karnataka has an investor-friendly environment with good infrastructure for investments, he said.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said that investments would be sought in the areas of power and aviation. Efforts would be made to highlight the State’s progressive industrial policy at the meet.
Tour of districts
The Chief Minister said that he would tour the districts on his return from China. Mr. Siddaramaiah toured Bangalore city on Saturday to inspect the status of development works.
Responding to queries on the general transfers of government employees, he said that general transfers this year had been completed but some transfers in the Police Department were pending and they would be taken up soon.
‘JD(S) not secular’
When his attention was drawn to the understanding between Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP in the Mysore City Corporation Council, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the Janata Dal(S) is not a secular party and it has been misleading the people about its secular credentials. The party’s true colours had once again been exposed after it aligned with the BJP for power in the Mysore City Corporation Council, he said.
