CM promises relief; poll code violation alleged

sidduMandya, Aug 17, 2013: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday promised compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the dependents of three slain soldiers from the district, allegedly violating the election code of conduct.

Addressing the public rally at K R Pet, as part of the campaigning for the by-election to Lok Sabha from Mandya constituency, Siddaramaiah promised to vet into the report already submitted by the deputy commissioner in this regard. However, the compensation will be distributed after the elections, the CM added.

Three soldiers from the district Alambadi Satish, Jayaramegowda of Agrahara Bachahalli and Udaykumar of Modur had lost their lives, while on duty, in different cases.

Somebody in the audience had passed a chit to the chief minister asking the latter to announce the compensation.

Deputy Commissioner B N Krishnaiah said that he was aware of the CM’s promise and would act only after seeing the video tapes of the speech.
