BANGALORE: From a doctor to an engineer , from an actor to a lawyer, the 14thKarnataka legislative assembly has some unusual legislators entering the House as first timers.

As many as 30 per cent of the newly elected MLAs – at least 67 of the 223 MLAs- are making their debut in the House.

Of them, Congress has as many as 36 of its 121 MLAs who will be entering the assembly for the first time. BJP comes second with 11 of its 40 MLAs, JDS 7 of its 40, and others are independents.

The first-time MLAs are not necessarily young. The average age ranges between 35 and 65 years.
