Periyapatna (Mysore dist), May 22: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of misusing power by influencing the suspension of a police inspector in Mysore for booking a case against his son.

Speaking to media while campaigning for the party’s candidate K Mahadev at Periyapatna Assembly constituency, which is going for polls on May 28, Kumaraswamy also dared Siddaramaiah to quit the CM’s post to pave way for a Dalit, while he (Kumaraswamy) was ready to make a dalit from the JD(S), leader of the opposition in Legislative Assembly, as advised by Siddaramaiah.

Continuing, Kumaraswamy charged Siddaramaiah for ignoring Periyapatna when he was the deputy chief minister besides holding finance portfolio. Now, he is promising to make the constituency a model to others, if the incumbent Congress MLA K Venkatesh was elected in the polls.

In addition to this, Siddaramaiah is issuing false assurances of discussing the plight of tobacco growers in the taluk with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, when the Congress led UPA government at the Centre was neck deep in corruption.

Kumaraswamy asked Siddaramaiah to prove his mettle by probing into the irregularities to the tune of Rs 11 crore committed by the followers of Venkatesh in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Addl charge of Nazarbad

Following the suspension of Inspector of Nazarbad police station G N Mohan, city crime information bureau (CCIB) inspector C T Jayakumar has been given the additional charge of Nazarbad.

Police commissioner K L Sudheer has suspended Mohan owing to dereliction of duty in several cases in the recent past including that of an assault case involving Rakesh Siddaramaiah, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Rakesh had been named prime accused in the case along with 10 others for allegedly assaulting Ka Pu Siddalingaswamy, a KJP candidate who had contested against Siddaramaiah at Varuna Assembly constituency.
