It was supposed to be a happy outing for five ladies who met up on Sat urday evening and head ed to Lavelle Road for a family dinner. But what followed was a night of horror, something they never imagined even in their nightmares.

Sukriti (name changed), 27, went with her family friends to have dinner at the Smoke House Deli restaurant on Lavelle Road. They were accompanied by the husbands of two of the girls. After dinner, they decided to go to JW Marriott to have an ice cream, but since it was closed as it was already 11 pm, they decided to go to Lakeview Milk Bar on MG Road. They had given our cars for valet parking while the men had parked their car at Bangalore Club. While they took the car, the men asked them to go ahead. .

The girls were chauffeured by their driver in their Toyota Innova and reached Lakeview at around 11.30 pm. They or dered the ice cream and were asked to park their car near Joyalukkas, a little ahead of the ice cream parlour. There was no parking available near Lakeview as it was crowded.

There were about 8-10 cars already parked in that column and their car parked just behind a van. The windows of their car were rolled up and the AC was on. After a couple of minutes, the driver decided to check on the ice cream order but left the key on the igni tion by mistake. Within minutes, the girls were shocked to see about five guys surrounding the car and banging the door loudly. The girl who was sitting in front used her presence of mind and clicked the lock pin on the driver-side window to activate the central lock immediately. One of the guys kept asking to get out of the car and also took out a sharp object to attack them.

It was then that the girls started screaming for help. One of the girls sitting on the back seat took a video of the rowdies. When the screams got louder, the intruders ran away and soon the public gathered to check on the girls.Meanwhile, one of the girls had already called her husband, and the driver also rushed to the spot.

Soon after, they scoured the entire area but could not find a single cop in the vicinity. So they went to the Cubbon Park police station where an FIR was registered under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 354 D (stalking). They also gave the photos and videos of the men to the cops. A Hoysala was sent immediately but was unable to track them.

When contacted, deputy commissioner of police (Central) Sandeep Patil said the case was being taken very seriously.
