Bengaluru: The Kumaraswamy Layout police have arrested an 18-year-old mechanic on charges of kidnap and rape under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after he eloped with a 16-year-old girl.
According to the police, the parents of the girl filed a complaint on November 1 stating that she had not returned from college. The police started investigations suspecting kidnap.
The police realized after verifying her mobile phone call records that the girl may have eloped with Rizwan, her neighbour, who owned an automobile repair shop in the locality.
The police said that on November 4, the duo was found near a bus stop in KS Layout. Based on the parent’s complaint, Rizwan has been booked for kidnap and rape under the POCSO act.
