Bengaluru: The meeting of management with parents of children studying in Narayana e-Techno School in Koramangala on Saturday to discuss the issue running classes ‘illegally’ without permission, veered off the course, as minor issues dominated the discussion.
During nearly two-hour long meeting, behaviour of children and teachers, recruitment and fee among others were discussed, disappointing many parents, who had come to get clarity on the aspect of affiliation of the school to the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE). The school is in news after the police filed an FIR on Friday for running classes illegally.
While a complaint was lodged by the Department of Public Instruction, the school authorities, on Saturday, stated: “We have not erred and we are in the process of getting the documents.”
However, the parents were not convinced. A parent of two children studying in the school said: “We got them admitted to this school last year. With the school’s irregularities now out in public domain, we do not know what to do. We are not sure if they will get the documents required for us to admit out children in another school.”
BJP leader V. Sudarshan, whose child is studying in the school, has filed a complaint regarding irregularities in school administration. He said the school management had told them that the school would function as usual.
The DPI lodged a complaint with police stating that the school was cheating parents by running Classes 6 to 10 without permission. FIR names eight persons representing the management, including P. Narayana, the school’s founder and Andhra Pradesh Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Urban Water Supply and Urban Planning. The school management, however, claimed that Mr. Narayana had given up the post after he entered politics. The representatives also claimed that they would be receiving affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in a month.
Trying to cash in on parents’ anxieties
Parents of students studying in Narayana e-Techno School are anxious about their children’s future with the Department of Public Instruction filing a complaint, and police filing an FIR against the school. However, a school in the neighbourhood is trying to cash in on their anxieties. It has been messaging them in a bid to lure them into admitting their wards in their school.
A parent said they got a message from a school in Koramangala 1st Block which said they could admit their child in their school. “We are shocked. We do not know how the neighbouring school got our phone number. Pulling out children from the school in the middle of the academic year is not an option at all,” a parent said.
