The “Communication club” of Mangalore University’s mass communication and journalism department was inaugurated on Tuesday. Students should develop a habit of reading the News papers. Journalist should be aware of all the affairs. One can become a good journalist, when he is well versed in the skill of drawing the attention of public towards the media. The art of writing for newspapers can be enhanced by watching the way of the news being published in the newspapers and the media, he said.
Mr P.B. Harish Rai, Dakshina District Working Journalists’ Association president, who chaired the programme, said that, journalism is educating new information to us daily. People accept the writings and magazines only when the necessary information is provided to the readers.A Journalist must be able to convey new information in addition to questions. Also he added that, Printing medium is competiting with the Visual medium. Journalists ought to think about developing the media in a sophisticated manner.
On this occassion, Professor G.P.Shivaram and Professor Vaheeda sultana were felicitated on completing 25 years as senior professors of the Department.
