Mangalore, May 3:”Where there is a will, there is a way “this phrase is aptly suits for Rahim Uchil,chairman of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy and BJP leader, who has taken a break from the active political campaigning schedule to fulfill a long pending dream of securing a university degree.
Uchil, who had successfully cleared SSLC in 1991, could not pursue his further studies because of poverty. Now he has realized the importance of education and made up of his mind to appear for BA political science examination that is being conducted by Karnataka State Open University and has already written three 1st year papers i.e.Kannada, English and History at the government First Grade College, Car Street.
Severely injured Uchil following an attack on him while at work in the office of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy said that even his disability is not deterrent in pursuing his goal. He had lost his left palm and two fingers of the right arm in the attack.
Rahim told that he wants to complete post graduation and take up research in subjects related to Beary language and culture. He is preparing for three more papers. Many of his friends have been motivated by my attempt to get a varsity degree. Next year at least 35 of his friends, who quit schooling, will be registering for graduation through Open University.
Apart from this , he is the maker of Beary film’Mami Marmol’ and has acted in many Beary movies including ‘Sahana’Nangala Kutumba’ and the national award winning’ Beary’ wants to create awareness among the youth in his community about the opportunity of pursuing higher studies through open universities.
