Bantwal police arrests three persons in auto driver murder case

Bantwal, Aug 13: The Bantwal rural police have successfully arrested three persons into custody in connection with alleged revenge murder case of Rifayi, an autorickshaw driver, near Maripalla, Bantwal.

The arrested are identified as Asif (20) and  Siraj (25) from Bantwal and Dhanaraj a resident of Valachil.

The arrested have been made by the team led by Bantwal Circle Inspector Belliyappa and Rural SI Nagaraj, under the direction of SP Sharanappa and guidance of Bantwal sub division DySP  Rashmi Paraddi.

The murderers who had left the spot with no clue had made the police to suspect the murder to be a revenge done for the murder of Naushad. Later during the interrogation, police arrested Naushad’s brother Siraj from Uppala.

Later based on the information collected from Siraj, police arrested Asif and Dhanaraj, who were directly responsible for the attack. Siraj had indirectly supported the crime. Previously, Siraj is charged with five other cases in Bantwal Rural Police Station. He was the one who had Taken Rifayee to the spot with the reason of hiring the auto.

The arrested are produced before the court and are in judicial custody. The search for  other three accused who went absconding are on.

It is recalled that, 24-year-old Rifayi was a brother of a murder accused Thousif, who is currently in jail.

Rifayi’s body was found at Netharekere on Aug 10 with the injury marks on head, legs and hands. In order to take revenge against Thousif, one of the accused in the murder, the gang targeted his brother.

According to locals, the clash began with the stabbing of Nooruddin by Naushad. Rifayi was said to be very silent and honest auto rickshaw driver in the area and did not have any criminal background.

Rifayi, was married six month ago and his wife is pregnant by four months now.
