Mangalore, Aug 05: Gulaab Gang, the revolutionary outfit which has charged against atrocities on women, may soon be started in Karnataka as well, the plan of starting its operations in the state was hinted buy Sampath Pal Devi, the Founder of the Gulaab Gang.
She was addressing the gathering after inaugurating a Workshop on prevention of harassment of women organised at the Raman Pai Auditorium in the city on August 5, Tuesday in memory of Mangalpady Namdev Shenoy.
“There has been a request from the women of Karnataka to set up Gulaab Gang in the state. But it will be a difficult task for me to come here all the way from Uttar Pradesh. But will certainly set up Gulaab Gang if people co-operate,” she said.
“Our Gulaab Gang has strived hard for the safety of women. But it is not proper to blame the government alone for the atrocities, sexual crimes and corruption in the society. People must raise a voice,” she added.
Stating the problems she faced after setting up Gulaab Gang, Sampath Devi mentioned that she is presently facing two cases and her passport has also been seized by the police. “But never have I taken a step backward,” she said.
On this occasion, Mangalpady Namdev Shenoy’s biography authored by RSS Pracharak Na Krishnappa was released.
