It was alleged that the building had encroached upon nearly 150 meters of government land that was reserved for a road in the area.

The issue had come up for discussion at the MCC meet held on July 30 wherein Kunjathbail Corporator Mohammad who raised the issue demanded that the illegal building should be razed to the ground.

“The MCC has demolished the structure owing to political pressure that too at a time when several unauthorised constructions raised on government land are left untouched,” says the Ganeshotsava Samithi Joint Director Sunil.

Sunil also mentioned that, “the police have been unconcerned towards a complaint lodged against Kunjathbail Corporator Mohammad, who had constructed house on a government land.”

In the meantime, the area also saw a protest by few people opposing the demolition. “We will approach the DC and request him to see to it that all unauthorised constructions are razed to the ground,” the protestors informed.
