Mangalore, Aug 01: Jagotik Konknni Songhotton will host a Global Conclave for Konkani Language Planning at Kalaangann on August 24.
Addressing media persons in Mangalore on July 30, Secretary General Eric Ozario said that the objective of the conclave is to churn out the past, present and future aspects of the progress of Konkani Language in global, national, regional and local levels.
The conclave will be inaugurated by Goa MLA Vishnu Singh, Goan Assembly former speaker Tomazinho Cardozo will preside, Aligarh Muslim University Professor of Sociolinguistics Dr S Imtiaz Hasnain will present the concept paper, Columnist Vasanth Shetty, Goa University Associate Professor Dr Andre Rafael Fernandez will speak on the topics ’Importance of language planning in the context of globalisation’ and ‘Need for language planning for Konkani’.
The Konkani Manyata Divas will be celebrated on the occasion and Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castelino will preside over the function.
