Kundapur, July 19: Ratna Kottari, a 17-year-old girl who went missing while returning home from the Shiroor Govt College on July 9, was found dead in a forest area at Sawantgudde in Shiroor village on Saturday, July 12. Police had stated that the death was mysterious, but the mystery has been not yet solved.

The police had informed that Shankar Kottari had filed a complaint that his daughter Ratna Kottari (17) had gone missing after she left home at Yedthare village to go to Government PU College at Shiroor on July 9. However, Ratna’s body was found at Sawantgudde in Shiroor at 6.30 a.m. on July 12. As Mr. Kottari had suspicions about her death, a case of kidnapping and murder was registered at Byndoor police station.

Superintendent of Police M.B. Boralingaiah said post-mortem was conducted at Katurba Hospital in Manipal. Forensic experts had also visited the spot, where the girl’s body was found.

The investigation has failed to make much headway. However there is no information regarding suicide or murder or poisoning. It is also suspected that the case might be of murder. As there are no injury marks or any strangulation marks it has become difficult to identify the cause of her death. Moreover the body was also decomposed.

Students and other citizens all over the district are protesting against this incident, but it seems to have no effect. The public is hoping for the mystery to be solved immediately and provide justice to Ratna’s family
