Mangalore, July 15: The district administration, Rotary Club of Mangalore East and Department of legal metrology jointly organised a meet to clarify weighing of LPG cylinders, for delivery persons, at the DC’s office in Mangalore, July 14.
The meet was held in order to follow the Supreme Court’s direction making it mandatory to weigh the new gas cylinder in front of a customer before the delivery of the cylinder.
Department of legal meterology Inspector Gajendra, in his orientation speech said, the electronic weighing machine should have maximum capacity to weigh 50 kg and an accuracy of 10 grams. After deducting the weight of the empty cylinder from total weight, the machine should show 14.2 kg, which is the exact weight of LPG. The weight of the empty cylinder varies, though it is of same company, he said.
Other officials, members of various committees, owners and delivery men were present on the occasion.
