To Vote name is mandatory in the Voters list: Says DC

Mangalore, April 30: Harsha Gupta, DC and Dakshina Kannada election commissioner has clarified that electorates names in the electoral list is mandatory for franchise their votes.

He further said that as he is unable to visit all the training centres personally at a time, he has instructed all the poll duty officials through wireless network talk to be present at the respective training centres on time, which will be given on April, 30, Tuesday.

He clarified that people are not allowed to cast their votes, those who possess EPI card with photo but their names are not appearing in the list and people’s names are there in the list but they fail to produce any one of the specified identity proofs.

DC has encouraged all the poll duty officers to discharge their assigned responsibilities without any fear, boldly without any prejudice, honestly, without any partiality and should be role model for others to emulate us.

After listening to the problems of poll duty officers DC promised them that remedial steps will be taken to solve their problems soon and asked them to lodge a complaint by contacting 1077 in case they observe any violations in counduct of polls during the election period.

In order to maintain law and order, Police, paramilitary and other security personnel have been deployed ahead of upcoming assembly election and DC expressed his confidence that no untoward incidents will takes during election period.

He further reiterated that all the poll duty officers must ensure that no violations of any kind reported during the election process and asked the officials to report such violations immediately to 1077.All the officials have been asked to perform their duties without coming under any pressure, sincerely and with much confidence.

He also added that all the concerned election duty commissioners have been asked to arrange for drinking water, seating arrangements for the poll officers. Officials who want snack, tea/coffee and meal have to inform in advance to revenue inspectors and they will arrange for the same and this expenses will be adjusted against their honorarium amount, he said.

Further DC has also instructed all mustering officials to be present at 6.30 a.m in their respective mustering places.

For the benefit of blind and helpless people, one person is allowed to assist them to carry to and from election booth, he added

Besides all  poll duty officers have also been asked  to manage, if they encounter any inconvenience, minor lapses  at the election booths and ensure that whole election process is held collectively and peacefully, he said.
