Mangalore, July 10: A huge tree located behind the Kadri bus stand fell over a house on July 9 Wednesday night at around 11.15 pm. The house belonging to TG Nambiar was damaged in the incident. The roofing of the house as well as a shed in front of the house has been damaged.
A member of the house, Pratima Nambiar alleges that the repeated appeal to MCC to take down the tree had only got the reply that the tree comes under the forest department. When we made an appeal to the Forest Department, they dint respond, she said. The MCC has to bear the losses incurred, she added.
In response to this, Deputy Conservator of Forests Ashwith said that the Forest Department has not received any request to take down the tree in the area.
The tree branches were vacated from the area by fire service personnel on July 10, Thursday morning. DK Ashok, Corporator of Nantur, Sabitha Misquith and Shivabagh Corporator were present among others.
