Monsoon effect: Fishing banned in coastal belt.

Mangalore, June 13: Karnataka Government has banned deep-sea fishing by mechanised boats along Dakshina Kannada and Udupi coasts from June 15 to August 10. The information was given in a press note by the Deputy Director of Fisheries Department, Mangalore.

As per the normal annual practice, the department has banned fishing for 57 days in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi region.

Mechanised boat owners who ignore the ban and go for deep-sea fishing will be acted on and will cease to be eligible for all benefits given by the Government normally.
