Mangalore, Jun 4: A passenger arriving from Dubai was arrested at Mangalore International Airport for trying to smuggle nearly 2.5 kg of gold on Tuesday June 3 night 10 pm. He was caught by the officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mangalore, after he landed by Air India Express flight from Dubai.
Hussainar Kudva, is a resident of Perla, Kasargod who was caught while smuggling gold. He used the same strategy of carrying gold bar in his shoes as the previous smuggler did. The gold was concealed in Hussainar’s shoes and the DRI officials intercepted him when he walked through green channel.
The gold, totally weighing 2466.60 grams, worth Rs 60 lac, was in the form of two bars and four pellets.
Hussainar was arrested and produced before the judge who remanded him in judicial custody.
