In the memorandum submitted by KCCI to the department, it demanded supply of uninterrupted power to EPIP. Though EPIP is ready in all aspects including water, road and other needs, MESCOM has not established its 220KV sub-station there, thus the industrial area has not been able to take off.

Responding to this, Maheshwar Rao said that he has instructed the MESCOM to complete the work within six weeks, so that EPIP can start functioning. “I have also directed the deputy commissioner to follow up the matter,” he added.

Policy on Cashew

Ratna Prabha, Additional Chief Secretary to Department of Commerce and Industry said that the state government is formulating a policy on Cashew to boost the cashew industry. The KCCI said that the cashew processing units in the district are depending on African countries for their requirement of raw cashew nuts as local production of raw cashew nuts in the State is not at all sufficient to meet the demands of the processing units functioning here. In reply she said that the department has drafted the policy and will finalise it soon.
