Mangalore, May 26: The Dakshina Kannada bus-owners had last week announced a hike in bus fares in the district. The regional transport authority, on the other hand, has confirmed that there was no decision to raise the tariff until now.
Being the head of the regional transport authority, DC A.B. Ibrahim said that complaint had been received from the public regarding this unilateral hike. The RTA had not approved of any hike. He has cautioned that if any excess is charged, action would be taken in accordance with law.
It was also informed that the owners had placed a demand for an upward revision of fares. But no meeting had taken place and no decision had been announced as yet.
A meeting has been convened to discuss the fare rise in the DC’s office at 10-30 am on June 3. The public too can take part and place their views, DC informed.
