Mangalore, May 21: Criminals, who had escaped to Gujarat after raping a minor girl at Idkidu in Vittal, were brought to Mangalore on May 20, Tuesday. The two accused were who were arrested at Okha in Gujarat recently.
Bakuta Basheer and Radhukatte Basheer, both wanted criminals were produced before the media at the SP office. Giving information about the case, Dr Sharanappa, SP said police are searching for the third accused in the case named Jabbar.
The three accused were absconding ever since a case of abduction and rape was filed against them in Vittal police station on April 24. The police were informed that the two accused were in Dwaraka and Jamnagar districts in Gujarat, they then intimated their counterparts in Gujarat and accordingly, the SI of Okha arrested the two on May 17. On May 20, the two were brought to Vittal.
Dr Sharanappa informed that the arrested persons were wanted in several theft cases in Kadaba Ulla, Sullia, Puttur in Dakshina Kannada and Uppala in Kasargod. The two are facing charges of taking a 14 year old girl of Idkidu to Madikeri by a car and repeatedly raping her there. The third accused Jabbar faces charges of threatening an acid attack on the victim.
