MANGALORE: BS Yeddyurappa’s KarnatakaJanata Party ( KJP) has lost one wicket in Mangalore with former Corporator Mariamma Thomas quitting the party on Thursday.
She is now planning to campaign for Congress candidate JR Lobo. I’m his fan. I have seen him as a tehsildar, city corporation commissioner. I have liked the way he used to work. He’s honest and efficient,” said Mariamma.
But did you not raise your voice against Lobo during council meetings? See i’m also a lawyer. I have to sometimes lie to get out the truth. So i used to accuse Lobo that some work is not done. Than he would come with all the facts. I had responsibilities as a corporator too and it was at the heat of the moment. It was not accusation but to get work done i used and launch tirades against him,” she clarified.
Now as an independent i can now support anybody, whom i feel is a good candidate, she said.
Meanwhile, influx of political party workers into Congress is continuing with more than 160 workers of JD(S), BSR Congress and BJP joining the party in the presence of senior Congress leaders B Janardhan Poojary and Oscar Fernandes on Thursday.
Shashiraj Shetty, former DK district president of JD(S), Mohan Padil, former BJP corporator, and Bajilakeri Kamalaksha, former independent corporator, are a familiar faces who joined Congress here.
