DYFI, SFI stage protest demanding arrest of accused in the Vittal minor rape case

Mangalore, May 9:  A protest was organised by DYFI, SFI and the JMS in front of the SP office in the city on May 8, Thursday demanding the arrest of the accused in the case where a minor girl was raped in Vittal.

Muneer Katipalla, State President of DYFI, speaking to the protesters said, “the home minister who had visited Manipal following the incident of gang rape of a Manipal student, has however not evinced any interest in ensuring a thorough probe into the rape case of a minor in Vittal.”

“The police department has failed to arrest the accused even three weeks after the incident, the police department as well as the government should be shamefull. Politicians are shielding the accused, ” he added.

The victim girl was also present in the protest and submitted a memorandum to Puttur DYSP HD Mendonca to arrest the culprits and ensure justice to  her.

Speaking on the occasion, Mendonca said that the Interpol has been informed to prevent the accused from fleeing the nation, He also made it clear that the police department was not under pressure to act against the accused.

SFI District President Nitin Kuttar, JMS District President Kiran Prabhu, Corporator Dayananda Shetty and several others were present.
