All the arrangements in line with Election Commissioners directives ready: DC

Mangalore, April 23: Speaking to the media reporters on April 23, Tuesday DC and district election officer Harsha Gupta said that out of 85,554, 62,240 voters had been included in the voters list. Mangalore south constituency topped with 9085 applications of names in voters list.

The process of disbursing EPIC to 62,240 voters had begun, he said.

After inclusion of voters under the first phase of SVEEP (systematic voter’s education and electoral participation), as many as 15, oo, 385 voters would exercise their franchise at 1715 polling booths in Dakshina-Kannada district on May 5.

First Mock poll: Gupta said that randomization of EVMs had been completed and second round will be conducted in the presence of representatives of political parties or candidates. The entire proceedings will be documented on camera, he added

On Sunday EVMs will be set up, buttons opened and the remaining unutilized buttons will be masked.

Prior to screening of EVMs in a strong room,a mock poll will be conducted and 1000 votes will be cast before political representatives and candidates.A similar mock poll will be conducted by election officials just hours prior to the start of voting.

Gupta said and added that an additional 175 EVMs have been kept ready to replace dysfunctional EVMs.

Worry List: District election officials will carry out a vulnerability study and all previous aspects related to polling will be analysed.For instance, if a candidate polls 75 per cent in a polling station, factors leading to high percentage voting will be analyzed and the worry list will be collected from candidates in the fray from Friday onwards.
